Desiree understands, values and respect the collaborative care model. Fifteen years of massage therapy has given Desiree ample opportunity to practice her listening skills, not only with her ears but with her eyes and hands. There is an intuitive nature about her treatment style and she believes it to be one of the reasons she’s had such success over these last fifteen years. Desiree has treated infants to elderly, mobile and immobile. She performs such techniques as fascial release, trigger point release, and graston technique.
Desiree graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2005 and is a member of the College of Massage Therapists Association of BC (CMTBC) and the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of BC (RMTBC).
As a doula, Desiree believes that birth is an exciting event that is normal, inherent and healthy. First or fifth child she believes every woman and her family deserve to experience their best birth.
Women have an innate ability to know how and when to labour and give birth. Desiree treats every labour and delivery differently and believes its uniqueness should be treated with respect. Desiree affirms birth experiences can be either enhanced or diminished by those who care for the mother and her birthing environment.
Education empowers women to make informed choices in their health care. Desiree knows that knowledge and support allow women to assume responsibility for their health, and that with education and support, women are more than capable of trusting their impulse, instinct and inner wisdom.
It is Desiree’s sincere honour and privilege to be invited to your birth and she takes great pride and care in facilitating a positive birth experience.
